r2d2

My reporter (Gordon) and I were downtown today, so I took the chance to run over a few blocks and check out the new R2D2 mailbox! I posed all C3PO-style for the photo - which I thought should be taken for posterity before someone comes along and paints some “robot junk” in the front of the mailbox.

In case you didn’t know: mailboxes all over the US have been wrapped as Artoo to commemorate the Star Wars 30th anniversary stamps being issued by the USPS. Honestly, I’m not as excited about the stamps as I was about the mailbox.

But this isn’t the first time I’ve posed at C3PO in a Star Wars themed photo. Back in ‘99 Xjan and I dressed up as hip-hip versions of the droids for a “Phantom Menace comes out soon” party.

Besides us, other costumes at the party were: 15 Obi-Wans, a Chewbacca, and two Natalie Portmans.
Kinda weak.

I think they look awesome.. it would be better if they made beeps and whines when you put mail in. Or started to stomp away on their own.

And still no love for R5-D4. How sad.
