They run away grow up so quickly.

Today is a sad day at work, as I bid farewell to my intern, Dani. And by “my intern”, I mean the intern that I sorta co-opted and began having work for me on all my various projects. She was my most favorite of all our interns (ever), and didn’t object too much to having to walk around holding my turned-out pocket - something I learned from the inmates in the first season of Prison Break.

I know…I know…I’ve written some stuff in the past about how interns annoy me, but I’ll look back fondly of memories of Dani assisting me with my “click” segments. She was extraordinary in her roles as “girl with cell phone” [video] and “female co-worker on photo” [video]. Did I mention that I make interns act? Anyway, I’ll miss that intern - she was a good one. She even got me a card. Thanks, D.

I love the smirk, it makes this a badass photo.

Gee, it’s too bad, really. She looks like she fits in and made an appropriate sidekick to Click On JL superheroic adventures.

JL! This is awesome. I forgot to check to see if you’d posted a blog yet this morning and Tim Waller emailed me telling me to look at it and even print it out for my resume stuff.

You just made my day. On top of getting my first apartment, I’ve been praised in two recommendation letters and get posted on a blog!

I love you, JL, and don’t think you’ve gotten rid of me yet!

I don’t know why it took me this long to think of sending this to you but I regularly read the Smithsonian and they had an article last month dealing with Mark Richards, a photographer doing a project on all these old computers.

Photography. Old school vintage tech. Hummm who would be interested in such things?

    Anyway check the article at

And you can see some more of his work on this project at his site

    there is some beautiful work

Sorry no comment on the intern other that I wish I had a cool one instead of those that constantly want stand ups on the other side of town and “help” editing, code for ‘can you do this for me’.

Actually, Scott E and I dubbed her “best intern ever” on a shoot as well.

We need to clone the “useful intern”.

She’s my fave too. I’ll never forget her first standup on a “gang” story. Dani stood in front of a house that had been spray painted when an undercover investigator pulled up to let us know we might want to move. He said the house next door was loaded with all sorts of weapons. She didn’t flinch and finished the job. That’s a true reporter in the making fo sho! Bye Dani… but come back in a couple of years, we need more people like you!!!!

When i was an intern at the Fox afflitate in seattle, like half of the camera people didnt want to work with me. They said they didnt like being followed around. It nice that you work with them im sure it means alot to her. The camera person i did end up working with was really nice and she called me one of the good interns. Are there really bad ones or something?

The digital camera tricks segment rocked - especially since that’s exactly my digital camera.

JL: drop me a line. I’m a month away from being in Greenville for the USPRO cycling championships and would really like to get the assignment desk to let you work your magic on a behind-the-scenes piece.
