This post is about Hannah Montana.
I was so happy this morning because I knew I had an awesome story to post on my blog, but as I wandered around this morning getting ready for work, I realized that it didn’t actually happen. It was a dream I had last night.
It started off being about winning the lottery or fighting zombies (I can’t remember which, but both were somehow a factor), and inexplicably ended up with me attending a family reunion. It was at this family reunion that I found out I was somehow related to Miley Cyrus (aka: Hannah Montana). We hung out, ate turkey and played video games. Believe me, it was a blast!
Anyway, this morning I was going to post this awesome photo of Hannah Montana and I playing Guitar Hero 3 (or maybe it was Rock Band), but seeing that it didn’t actually happen this blog post will have to go without an image - until I have time to photoshop an photo of me and Miley.
[UPDATE!]: I just got this message from my pal Kerry in NZ: “The attached pic is what your Hannah Montana dream might have looked like!”

Actually, this photo makes it look way more rad - although I probably did have that dumb expression on my face in my dream as well and just didn’t realize it.

For the most part I can tear through most video games without the use of a strategy guide. But for the large, open-ended roleplaying games (like the newly-released Mass Effect), I like to have ‘em handy so that I don’t go out of my mind second-guessing myself over all the seemingly miniscule decisions I make along the way. And as it just so happens, my pals Bryan and Steve actually wrote the Mass Effect strategy guide (something I overlooked when purchasing the book), so my thanks goes out to them over this holiday weekend for giving me several key suggestions for forming my badass space crew - although now I can’t read the book without hearing Bryan’s voice in my head.
2 commentsJust me and my shadow man.
I was dumping the photos off my memory card onto the laptop today and realized I forgot to post this one on Friday. It’s a shot of my shadow as I was shooting airplanes out on the tarmac at GSP.

I liked the look oy my shadow (particularly the tripod) and decided to snap a shot. Moments later I thought about my favorite episode of the Twilight Zone (the newer series) in which this nerdy kid discovers an evil “shadow man” living under his bed, whom he uses as a tool to take out the bullies tormenting him in junior high. Spoiler: The kid ends up getting himself attacked or raped by someone else’s shadow man at the end of the show.
3 commentsI am in no way ready for the holidays.
That’s the realization I had this weekend when I ended up in “that one corner” of the local Target store, surrounded by holiday cheer. It seems rather soon, but for I know it’s already been there for three weeks already and I just didn’t pass by it. Anyway, being the consumer whore that I am, I should point out that I like seeing all the random merch that gets thrown our way during the holiday season - like these candy mp3 players, for example.

Other consumer-related observations:
1. I could probably make (and frequently update) and entire blog based entirely around products designed to cash in on the whole mp3 craze.
2. I broke my “I no longer buy DVDs until I decide on a high def format to buy” so that I could finally see Daywatch.
3. In my opinion, the most overplayed song in commercials and trailers is that terrible, “Feel the rain on your skin” song. How I hate that song.
4. Having a hard time deciding between Xbox 360 or the Wii for Guitar Hero 3 - leaning towards the Xbox today. 8 comments
“Just don’t hit us in the face or crotch.”

That’s what I said to the kids when we Geoff and I arrived at the tennis courts for our live shots (and later when we took some photos). Inevitably when I shoot this live sports things I’m always bonked in the head by some random piece of sports equipment, so I was lucky that we weren’t shooting golf or hockey.
Anyway, I posted this photo as a way of showing that I’m still alive during ratings. Two of my special report pieces have just aired, and I only have two more to chop together. Despite how busy I feel, I’m taking time to enjoy all my favorite shows during sweeps, as they may end early this year because of the WGA strike and all that business.
No commentsSome sneaky photos I took this weekend.
The most recent, being the one I snapped at the Morrissey show last night in downtown Greenville (can you believe it?). Even though there were at least a dozen people around me taking photos, I was still kinda nervous when I raised the PDA to take a shot. We were located near the front - dead center - and I thought it would be weird if Moz looked over and saw me pointing that thing at him.

The show was amazing, and it was a nice mix of current songs and some Smiths favorites. At first, I was skeptical about how many people would turn out for the show, but I’ve come to learn that there’s Morrissey devotees everywhere. And I forgot how much fun it is watching all the fans rush the stage to grab at him (the encore ended early, as Morrissey was mobbed by folks). Read more
