Now resting on the wall adjacent to where the “dot-coms” work is a new scheduling board that’s generating a lot of talk around the office today. This dry erase board is a low-tech approach to solving one of the high tech problems in today’s modern newsroom: getting everyone involved with the website, WYFF4.com.
A memo went out to everyone this afternoon reinforcing what we’ve already worked hard at putting into practice, and it’s that everyone is part of the website - not just the one or two editors. And this new schedule is an extension of our upgraded news culture, letting everyone from editors to writers to producers know when it’s their turn to “be on the web” and getting extra stuff done. I think it’s clever, and definitely another step in the right direction.
Now, If only I can figure out how to be the guy who’s web job it is to just “twitter” stuff for the station…
This is a scenic, shot of the Biltmore Estate I got using my circular polarizer to make the clouds “pop”. Unfortunately I was so busy packing this little piece of screw-on glass…that I forgot to bring a spare battery for my SLR (or ultimately charge the batteries I had in the camera).
Anyway, I snapped this photo and thought to myself, “Oh man! I’m going to take all kinds of rad shots today.” Several photos later, I was out of juice and taking the rest of my pics with a little pocket camera. They turned out fine and all, but it was all kinda downhill after that one shot.
I was surfing through Vimeo the other day, checking out various HD videos that folks have shot, and I came across this rad music video. It’s titled, “Robot Parade” and features a bunch of kids (and dogs) in homemade robot costumes having a parade.
While I love the video, the accompanying song is hard to listen to for more than 30 seconds. I enjoy They Might Be Giants, but this song: not so much. Also, the video looks so great in High Def that it’s still fun with the volume turned down.
I’m getting behind on posting my “robot 365″ photoset - which features a new toy robot photo each day. Here’s one of my recent favorites, alternately titled, “Slow Dance.”
