I managed to snap some robot pics in the pumpkin patch this weekend, in between getting stills of my incredibly cute baby girl. I made a promise to myself that once I had a kid my blog wouldn’t be just baby photos all the time, so I can justify this bunch by dropping an accompanying robot photo into the mix. I’m taking it on a case-by-case basis.
I seriously can’t wait for my box of robots (and all my other geek treasures) to get off the moving truck. That day - moving-in day - is tomorrow, and I expect an insanely stressful day as my wife and I try to coordinate the moving crew through the labyrinthe of our new apartment complex. And when I say “labyrinthe” I mean the David Bowie rock musical Muppet variety. Take a wrong corner and a creature steals your backpack, or you have to solve a series of ridiculous puzzles to get access to the central elevator.
Tomorrow marks the last day I’ll have regular internet access, as we move into our new place before taking to the skies, heading-off to Oregon for a much needed visit. I plan on doing some mobile photo drops to the blog while we’re on the trip and check my emails (and my peeps various Heroes theories) via BBerry. Hopefully this interruption in broadband will go a long way in helping curb my current case of World of Warcraft addiction.
This afternoon, I got the following Flickr message from my online pal, Zara:
“I was just browsing the weekly PostSecrets, and noticed this familiar image used on one of the cards. Thought you might be interested in seeing it. Unless of course this is one of your secrets I have stumbled upon :)”
For those of you not familiar with PostSecret, it’s a blog that displays scanned postcards sent by anonymous folks, burning to share some dark secrets in a way-too-creative method. Here’s the image (from the post) in question:
It’s definitely my photo (here’s the original), but definitely not my “post secret”. I like how it’s from the future, by the way. Does that mean that this person ended his/her engagement early? Or does it mean that she (I’m just going to assume it’s a ’she’ now) dodged the bullet of being single and finally found someone to marry, even if it is made spare parts and miscrostuffs. Thoughts? Thanks for the heads up, Z!
[Side note: people mostly steal my images for concert posters and CD covers, so this is a welcome alternative to the usual copyright infringement.]
I was surfing through Vimeo the other day, checking out various HD videos that folks have shot, and I came across this rad music video. It’s titled, “Robot Parade” and features a bunch of kids (and dogs) in homemade robot costumes having a parade.
While I love the video, the accompanying song is hard to listen to for more than 30 seconds. I enjoy They Might Be Giants, but this song: not so much. Also, the video looks so great in High Def that it’s still fun with the volume turned down.
I’m getting behind on posting my “robot 365″ photoset - which features a new toy robot photo each day. Here’s one of my recent favorites, alternately titled, “Slow Dance.”
UPDATE: Due to a database error, I've had to reinstall 18 months of Wordpress posts - which are like 65% there, but without comments and trackbacks. I'm still working on getting everything back.
