Two random photos: Cabo San Lucas

By December 28, 2011 Photography

While organizing the million photos I took this year, I realized most that have largely gone unprocessed or unposted. Moments ago, I stumbled across a whole raw folder of photos from my Mexican Riveria cruise last month. It was a “working vacation” and most of pics were action shots of Mitch English. However, there were a few odd snaps that I overlooked.

I like both of these shots, but I think they might be needing “something” – so you might be seeing them again (differently) at some point.

Getting Ready For Santa!

By December 24, 2011 Photography

It’s not like I’ve been a Scroogey Gringh in recent years, but I definitely had a reached a point a few years ago where I was less than enthusiastic about each passing Christmas. However now that I’m a parent – and my little one is at that “perfect age” – I’m finding everything magical and wonderful again. Last night I helped Eliza prepare for Santa’s arrival, leaving out cookies, milk, and reindeer treats. (I also ate them a short while later).

iPhone snaps: Florida sightseeing

By August 24, 2011 Florida, iPhone, Photography

We’ve been traveling around the state recently, doing little “staycations” and checking out all there is to do outside of Central Florida. My wife has an amazing ability to book luxurious, expensive hotel suites at incredibly low prices, so we’ve been zooming around a lot. Here’s a few recent snaps I took with my iPhone:

I’ve been crazy-buzy shooting promos and administrating the other 5 websites and multiple webpages that I work on, so I haven’t had much time for photo inspiration. Here’s a few recent snaps from work in the past week:

Tybee Island iPhone pics

By May 31, 2011 Photography

I’m quite fond of the photographer mantra, “the best camera is the one that’s with you” – which I guess would make my Canon 5DII the worst camera I have, simply because I hate lugging it around all the time. I decided to leave it in the suitcase this weekend and just take mobile phone snaps (mainly because I was also chasing the kid around Savannah, often through water fountains). The sun was so intense in Georgia this weekend that I couldn’t really tell what I was shooting, but here’s a few iPhone pics from Tybee Island yesterday.

I’ve been working on lots of Disney-related promotions this past week, with all of it culminating around the grand re-opening of the Star Tours ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here’s a few of the shot I snapped this morning, both with my SLR and iPhone.

random iPhone photos

By May 8, 2011 Photography

I’ve been going through the ridiculously vast volume of photos on my iPhone, and doing some much needed spring cleaning. In addition to taking a lot of photos of Eliza, I also snap shot of everyday things to refresh my memory later – such as songs on the satellite radio, or barcodes on various shopping items (which I’ll use later at the checkout to “shove it in the clerk’s smug face”). And then there’s the occasional odd photos that I don’t ever do anything with, such as this jellyfish:

I love my new ring flash!

By April 18, 2011 Photography, The Daily Buzz

Here’s some test shots of my badass crew at work, using the new ringflash adapter I got from Photojojo. Basically, I just turned off the studio lights, except for the “bubblescape,” and fired away. [Photography nerds keep reading: The ring flash prevented the slaved ‘hair light’ flash from working, and I couldn’t use a pocket wizard, or else ring flash wouldn’t fit. It was an ‘off’ situation all around, but worked out well in the end. The only thing that I don’t like is that some purple luminance that bled through the bubblescape on some takes.]

I’m using these photos, and some others from the shoot for a new, website project which launches in two weeks. (Plenty more on that later…)

Photo Project: OtherWorldy Disney

By April 17, 2011 Orlando, Photography

While poking around the WDW parks over the past few months, I started a fun, little photo project – which I will now share with you since I’ve now taken enough photos to actually call it a ‘collection’. Basically, I’ve been snapping photos of architecture and decor on Disney properties that could look like ‘otherworldy’ or alien when cross-processed in photoshop. Obviously, Epcot has the most variety, but I’ve managed to find some rad buildings in the other parks (and even on the Disney Dream).

At some point, I might make a simple photo blog for them, but for right now I’m going to just piecemeal them out, as I render them. Let me know if you have any ideas for cool Disney places that I can take similar pics.

The Greatest Story Never Told

Now that I have a little girl, I’ve found that it’s difficult to own dolls collectibles and keep them in the packaging. I’ve already donated the entire crew of the Star Trek: Voyager to her own geeky toy collection, and tonight she inspired me to crack open one of the Buffy dolls I’ve had in cryogenic freeze (aka “the garage”) for several years.

Noticing that both the Slayer and my “Tigerman” Elvis doll are both rockin’ leather jackets, I decided it was time for them to team up and kick some ass over the Sunnydale Hellmouth. At some point, I’ll build a proper set with lighting, and try this photo again.

Hosmer’s engagement photos

By January 31, 2011 Orlando, Photography

I had a chance on Friday – during the last moments of failing daylight – to snap some engagement photos of my friend/co-worker David, and his fiance Kelly. I don’t ever take these sort of photos, so I’m pleased with the results. (And by “pleased with the results” I meant, “glad I didn’t completely screw it up”)
