Proof Reel: Broadcast News Image from JL Watkins on Vimeo.
If you’ve seen any of my promos in the past year, then chances are you’ll recognize some of this footage. Basically, I’m getting my various reels together for my (soon-to-be) upgraded photo/video site…and whatever future marketing needs I might have now that we’re moving. My intent is to demonstrate my digital cinematography skills for use in broadcast promos and related projects.
The footage looks so good. How much color correcting do you do, if any?
For about 95% of the video, I don’t have to do anything since I have my camera preset for certain looks and conditions. In this video there are a few shots (particularly in front of the blown out window) that I would do some color processing on.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with shooting the camera completely flat and neutral and then do color gradients in Color or MB Looks – and it’s cool. I got something to look like “Three Kings” the other day.
